Have the person's full name and date of birth ready. Booking can usually confirm whether someone is being held, and when they are due before a judge. Minnesota requires a first appearance within 36 hours of arrest, not counting the day of arrest, Sundays and legal holidays (Minn. R. Crim. P. 4.02, subd. 5).
Jail phone lines are recorded. Don't discuss the facts of the case on them — save that for the attorney.
