Goodhue Police Department (merged / disbanded)

This changed. The City of Goodhue no longer has its own police department. In August 2023, Chief Josh Smith and the entire police force resigned over pay/recruitment issues (widely reported: MPR, Star Tribune, CBS, AP). The Goodhue County Sheriff's Office has since provided contract policing to the City of Goodhue (confirmed on the city's own official website, cityofgoodhue.gov, which lists 'Goodhue Co. Sheriff' under emergency services, and on the county's 'Contract Policing Communities' page at goodhuecountymn.gov/sheriff/administration/contract_policing_communities/, alongside Pine Island, Wanamingo, Bellechester, and Dennison). Current covering agency: Goodhue County Sheriff's Office, 651-267-2600 (dispatch/non-emergency 651-385-3155), 430 W. 6th St., Red Wing, MN 55066.
