Hancock Police Department (merged / disbanded)

This changed. Could not confirm an active, independently-staffed Hancock Police Department through any official source. The City of Hancock's own official website (cityofhancockmn.com) lists its City Departments as only Fire Chief, Water/Sewer, and Maintenance Director -- no police chief or department appears anywhere on the official city site. Separately, the Stevens County Sheriff's official page describing the regional West Central SWAT team lists its member police departments as Glenwood, Starbuck, University of MN Morris, Benson, Appleton, and Wheaton -- Hancock is not among them. Several third-party directory sites (countyoffice.org, localoffices.org, minnesotaprisonroster.org) still list a 'Hancock Police Department' at 662 6th St / (320) 392-5283, but that address/number is essentially Hancock's City Hall (320-392-5285), and those sites use identical templated 'department structure' boilerplate copied across many small towns, so I do not trust it as evidence of a real, current department. Based on the official city and county sources, the area is most likely now covered by the Stevens County Sheriff's Office (320-208-6500) under patrol, but I could not locate an official document (city council minutes, contract, or county announcement) explicitly confirming a Hancock patrol contract or the date the city PD was disbanded.
