Moose Lake Police Department (merged / disbanded)

This changed. Moose Lake Police Department no longer exists as an independent agency. The Moose Lake City Council voted 3-2 in February 2024 to disband its police force (down to one officer) and contract with the Carlton County Sheriff's Office; the department was officially disbanded July 31, 2024, with Sheriff Kelly Lake assigning four deputies to the city full-time (per KSTP, MPR News, Star Tribune, WDIO, Pine Journal reporting). The county's own site now lists this as the 'City of Moose Lake Sheriff's Office,' still reachable at the old local number 218-485-8404 (or the main Sheriff's Office line 218-384-3236) at the same 600 Highway 73 location; the city's phone directory (cityofmooselake.gov) still labels this line 'Police Department' even though it is now sheriff-run, which could itself mislead callers/directory compilers.
